Mr. and Mrs. Li and
their daughter Alice went
to the cinema yesterday
evening. They came
home at ten o’clock.
“Look at our flat,”
M r s . L i s a i d . “Ou r
window is broken. It wasn’t broken this afternoon.” “Perhaps
there’s a thief in our flat,” said Mr. Li.
Mr. and Mrs. Li opened the front door of their flat and
looked in every room. There was no one there. “Where’s your
camera?” Mrs. Li asked. “Did the thief take it?” Mr. Li looked for
his camera. “I can’t find it,” he said. “I’ll call the police.”
A few minutes later a policeman came to the house. He
went into Alice’s room. “The thief came in here,” he said. “Look
at this room. It’s very untidy.”
“Oh no!” Alice said. “A thief didn’t make the room untidy.
My room is always untidy.”
