A young girl and her mother lived in a town far away. They
were poor, but happy.
    There was a big house across from their house. Every
evening the girl looked at the big house. It looked beautiful. It
had pretty gold windows. The girl wanted to visit it.
    One morning, she cleaned her bedroom. She washed the
dishes and helped her mom. Then she walked. She walked
and walked. At sunset, she arrived at the big house. She was
surprised! It was big, but it wasn’t beautiful. It was old and gray.
Nobody was there.
    The girl looked back at her house. It was beautiful. She
was surprised again. The windows of her house looked gold!
She was happy to go home.

          金色的窗户
    一个小姑娘和她的妈妈住在一个遥远的城镇里，她们很穷，但生活过得
很幸福。
    在她们家房子的对面有一座大房子，小姑娘每天晚上都望着大房子，它
看起来真漂亮。它有漂亮的金色窗户，小姑娘很想去看看。
    一天早上，她清理完她的卧室，又刷了碗，帮妈妈干完了活，然后就散
步去了。她走啊走啊，日落时她走到了那间大房子。她大吃一惊！ 房子很
大，但并不漂亮，又旧又暗，根本没有人。
    小姑娘回头看着她的家，房子美极了！她又感到吃惊了，她家的窗户看
起来也是金色的！于是她就高兴地回家去了。
